PROJECT OVERVIEW

This project focused on refining an employee mobile app that was continuously tested internally. As the product evolved, I improved the UI, made light UX updates, and designed new screens while keeping the experience consistent and easy to use.

THE GOAL

  • Make key actions easier to find

  • Improve readability

  • Create a more polished, cohesive look

  • Keep existing workflows intact

KEY CONSIDERATIONS

  • Ongoing internal testing and iteration

  • Existing workflows already in place

  • New features added gradually

  • Visual improvements prioritized over structural changes

STARTING POINT

These early wireframes reflect the initial structure of the app while features were still being defined. Pages were built gradually as needs came up, so many layouts were simple and focused on core functionality rather than visual polish.

VISUAL EXPLORATION

While new pages were still being built, I explored color directions based on the client’s preference for greens, oranges, and a brighter visual style, creating multiple variations for review and feedback.

I also updated the navigation pattern by replacing the side menu with a bottom navigation bar, giving users quick access to Home, Schedule, Tasks, Shift Overview, and Account - better suited for a mobile app experience.

REFINED VISUAL DIRECTION

After reviewing the visual explorations, the client chose a dark color direction built around black and green. From there, I made iterative refinements across multiple screens to improve consistency, hierarchy, and overall polish while keeping existing workflows intact.

DARK MODE EXPLORATION

At the client’s request, I created a dark mode version to explore how the UI could translate to a darker visual style while maintaining clarity and hierarchy.

OUTCOME & HANDOFF

The final designs were shared with the team to support development and internal testing. The direction was well received, and the designs are currently being used as a reference as the app continues to be built and refined.
